This is Cascara, the dried cherry fruit of the coffee seed. My local barista gave it to me, but you can purchase some here.
Steep 5 grams in 8 oz. of water for 5 minutes to make a tea-like drink. I tried it out and it was delicious.
Over the obvious tea flavors were strong sweet notes of current and cherry. There is a subtle coffee flavor of course.
Itβs a nice change from traditional teas and a passible, but not permanent substitute for coffee.

I can not wait to slowly take all this in, and I am still waiting for just the right evening to remove the plastic and crack the spine.
The crazy thing is, I saved $25 by buying online. No big surprise these days, but what is surprising is that the brick and mortar store in town that also has a copy has a policy of not matching their online prices.
I understand there are costs involved in running an “actual” store, but something needs to be worked out with the pricing. Otherwise, the only point of the store is to preview your purchase in real life before buying it on your phone while you are there.
